The London Technical Advisors Group (LoTAG) maintains a technical network for local government professionals and co-opted members in the highway and transport fields. It provides a centre for professional advice and assistance for local policy development and service delivery on a London wide basis. As part of this remit the Highway Maintenance Steering Group, a sub group of LoTAG Group 2 was tasked with producing a common asphalt specification suitable for London's needs in the 21st century. Jim DeSouza of TfL and a member of the HMSG managed to get funding for the project from the London Centre of Excellence and the HMSG tasked Jacobs with carrying out the study and production of the report.

The LoTAG Londonwide Pilots/Trials project board would welcome contributions from London borough's T&H officers. The project board is compiling a database of pilots & trials carried out in London with the results to be shared across London's technical community. Please take the time to provide details of any trails or pilots you have carried out over the last couple of years on the spreadsheet and once complete email it back to Nahid at Lambeth who is collating the information, her details are on the spreadsheet. We will publish the latest sheet on a regular basis.
